Dad's Day

is awesome:)) i love my dad so much. Yes, there are many flaws and issues that i have and will deal with throughout my life...but i can honestly tell you that NONE of them have, or will, come from a dysfunctional relationship with my father. He is the most kind man i know. He is so patient with me, he is a hard worker, he tells me often that he loves me. He's given me such a great example of a man of God...

;)

This is right before evan got a sneak attack on dylan...i'll let you figure out where...

love her:))

I found a really awesome vintage photo of a dad with his little girl at the antique fair that i go to every month. My original plan was to use that photo for my dad's father's day card. But i got to thinking that I'm the one that's really into vintage inspired things, not my dad. I looked through some old photos of us together and found the perfect photo of us. I was probably around 3 years old, and i'm jumping into my dad's waiting arms at a friend's pool. The looks on our faces is pure love...he's so excited to catch me and to be entertaining me...and i am so pleased that he is there for me.

When i was writing the letter to him last night i actually began to cry..such a sap, i know. He really means everything to me and i am constantly thanking God for the wonderful family that i have. Like all families, we have our disagreements and arguments. But the level at which we function as a unit is incredibly healthy. I do not know how i am so blessed to have my family. God is so full of grace and compassion and i am so grateful that i am a recipient of His love...

hm...what a beautiful thing to meditate on for the evening...

"What happened to all the boy bands?!"

Valid question, Victoria Ayeni...As vic and i drove to the fabulous antique fair (held every second sunday of the month in midtown. somewhere close to W & 22nd. GO. it's amazing), N*SYNC's "POP" came on in the car (and yes, it was my ipod...can't let go of the good ol' days of pop music). Vic reminded me that boy bands used to sing songs like "Quit Playin' Games With My Heart." Now guys sing about pussy and ho's...?!

Anyway, i got a few new things at the fair. I scored two windows for $10 (pictures to come when i figure out how i want to transform them!!), i found these awesome plant hangers for the wall. Although, i think i'll hang a candle or flower vase from it (again, picture to come when i figure out where to put it), and some awesome old photos, one of which is an adorable picture of a father and daughter, PERFECT for my dad's father's day card!!

Then i was lucky enough to meet up with my best friend, Melissa, for lunch at la bou. She just got back from a trip to hawaii to visit our friend Tiffany, and she brought me back this awesome sticker for my car:
it's two hands making a heart shape with "one love" in the middle:))

cheers,
kb

Summer Reading List

One of my summer goals is to read as many books as i can...I just finished a book by Mary Pipher, Letters to a Young Therapist, and now I've started another by the same author. This one is called Reviving Ophelia, and is about how adolescent girls are loosing themselves to the American culture. I'm only about forty pages in and i am soaking up every word. This is the kind of research i want to conduct to help young women find a confidence in themselves.
This morning i went to Tupleo to read, write, and listen to music...

oh! and i got in some more practice riding the longboard;) such dedication...i will look awesome riding my longboard.SOON.
